ALIX FILS-AIME
This is the survivor's story. He was a prisoner after he was taken. The ones he loved were killed and ran form their homes leaving him to be taken. He survived by helping with peasants and working in rural areas where he had just enough food to live. He couldn't stand his perpetrators, but hoped that they would come to thier senses and release the prisoners. He was a prisoner for about 7 years. He stated, "The allies of Haiti was just Cuba". The prisoners were only given very small amounts of food scraps in thier cell. The secret police called, Tonton Macoutes, were always stationed outside the cells ao that he could not escape. He was treated no better than a slave up until the human rights policy was passed. He was so happy and overjoyed that it was over when they finally set him free.
